(Richmond, VA) The Richmond Spiders won their 4th consecutive game on Saturday as they defeated the North Carolina A&T Aggies 20-17. The Spiders ground attack included Zach Palmer-Smith, who ran for 200 yards, and Andrew King, who ran for 100 yards.
The Aggies got on the board first as Andrew Brown kicked a 26-yard Field Goal to put the Aggies up 3-0 with 4:05 left in the 1st quarter. The Spiders ended an 8-play drive to start the 2nd Quarter as they fell a yard short on 4th Down. Following the turnover on downs, the Aggies responded. Justin Fomby connected with Ger-Cari Caldwell to cap a 9-play, 97-yard drive that put the Aggies up 10-0 with 9:24 remaining in the 2nd quarter.
On the following possession, Andrew King ran for a 63-yard touchdown to put the Spiders on the scoreboard as they trailed the Aggies 10-7 (Extra Point attempt good). On the final play of the 2nd quarter, Brandon Peskin kicked a 33-yard field goal to tie the game 10-10 at halftime.
The Spiders took the lead as Brandon Peskin kicked a 20-yard field goal to put the Spiders up 13-10 in the 3rd quarter. Jabril Hayes forced a fumble by Daniel Coles, which Chance Graves recovered with 10:04 remaining in the 3rd quarter. Zach Palmer Smith punched in an 8-yard rushing Touchdown to cap a 6-play 79-yard drive to extend the Spiders' lead to 10 (20-10 with 4:04 remaining in the 3rd quarter. The Aggies struck back as Justin Fomby connected with Anthony Rucker for a 38-yard touchdown reception. The Aggies cut the Spiders' lead to 3 points (20-17, 8:20 remaining in the 4th Quarter. The Spiders held on as they won their 4th consecutive game. The Spiders have a Bye-week next week and will face Deleware on Saturday, October 19th at Robins Stadium at 3:30.
