Richmond, VA (6-24-23) | The Richmond Kickers continued their 3-game (second game of the 3-game homestand) homestand as they faced One Knoxville SC. Both teams entered the match with identical records (5-4-5 20 Points). One of the storylines heading into this match was the return of former Kicker Jalen Crisler (who played for the Kickers from 2021-2022). The first-ever meeting between the two teams ended in a 2-2 draw.
The Richmond Kickers struck first as 3-time USL Leauge One MVP Emiliano Terzaghi scored in the 7th minute (With that goal Terzaghi became the first player in USL League One history to account for 50 regular season goals) Richmond native Simon Finch was credited for the assist, The rest of the first half was evenly matched and physical as One Knox's Jalen Crisler (20th minute) and Frank Ross (14th minute) were assessed yellow Cards, For the Kickers Nathan Anunue (40 minute) was assessed a yellow card.
The second half saw a flurry of goals within a 5 minute period. One Knox got on the scoreboard by an inadvertent play by Kickers in the 69th minute to put Knox on the board, Illija lllic scored in the 71st minute to give One Knox a 2-1 lead, Terzaghi scored in the 75th minute (Via penalty kick) to tie the match at 2-2.
What's Next: The Kickers Return to City Stadium to conclude their 3-game homestand next Saturday as they face the Chattanooga Red Wolves.
